1. Add your Food Scraps
Cut your scraps into small pieces and place them into the Urban Composter (this will help the scraps break down faster). You can include meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, citrus peel, dairy, coffee grounds, and wilted flowers.
Tip: If you're adding a lot of coffee grounds or tea leaves, place a piece of paper towel over the grate to help prevent the tap from clogging.
2. Spray the Contents
After each addition, apply the Urban Compost Accelerator spray to the scraps to break down and ferment the organic waste in the bucket. There are no nasty odours during fermentation.
Tip: Always spray meat and fish thoroughly with the accelerator.
3. Drain the Compost Juice
The liquid produced during fermentation is rich in beneficial bacteria and nutrients. Drain it every few days, dilute it with water, and use it to nourish your flowers and garden beds.
4. Compost the Fermented Scraps
After draining the liquid, you can bury the fermented scraps directly into garden soil or a pot, where they’ll break down in about six weeks. Alternatively, add the scraps straight into a worm farm or compost bin.
5. Cleaning the Bucket
Clean the bucket with only natural products such as vinegar and water. Avoid harsh chemicals, which can harm beneficial microbes.
